Sleep troubles. (Plus chocolate cherry bombs!)

You would assume that a post entitled "sleep troubles" by a mother with a 3 month old would be referring to said three month old. That assumption would be incorrect. Baby Roo sleeps great! He wakes up once or twice for a diaper and to nurse, and then goes right back down. He goes down great, too. (As long as he is swaddled tightly!).

My three year old, Hailey, on the other hand, is a horrible sleeper. She is up and down, using every excuse in the book to get out of bed. She's hungry, she's thirsty, she's scared, she has to go potty. You name it, she's said it. We've tried being tough with her, being comforting and understanding, and everything in between to no avail. I'm at a loss, and the lack of sleep is starting to wear on me. Even when we do get her to fall asleep in her bed, she sneaks into our bed when we are sleeping. Any other mommies have sleep troubles with a toddler? How did you handle it?

On a brighter note, today, Hailey and I made these chocolate cherry bombs we found on Pinterest.

While ours were not as...Aesthetically pleasing as hers, they were delicious! And Hailey had a blast rolling them into balls. Definitely a fun project, and tasty too!

I'm back!

It's been so, so long! Things got so crazy in December with our move, Christmas, my pregnancy, and having a three year old. Things are finally going back to normal and I'm so excited to start writing my blog again.

I would like to introduce you all to my new bundle of joy. He is no longer "Roo", well, occasionally he is, but he has a real name! This is my gorgeous baby boy, Dylan Benjamin James. He was born on January 11, 2013. He was 7 pounds 5 ounces, and 20 inches of utter perfection.

It's crazy how fast time goes. I now have an active 3 month old! He is rolling both ways, he's teething, he thinks he can sit up, he coos up a storm, he's so smiley, and now he LAUGHS! It's amazing. He's such a joy, and I'm so blessed to get to be his mommy!

My beautiful Hailey is growing and changing every day. She is using bigger words (convenient, similar, and mysterious, for example.) and generally in the correct context. She is so independent, smart, and funny. She loves singing and dancing, playing with Play Doh, and playing outside. She can always put a smile on my face. It's crazy how grown up she is already.

I look forward to future blog posts with crafts, recipes, and maybe even some reviews! So happy to be sharing it all again. :)

Santa's Workshop

Today our craft wasn't completed at home. We got super lucky. The fire house near us was hosting a "Santa's Workshop", and it was free. Hailey and Hannah both got to make their choice of many projects, I believe they were donated by Lowes. Hailey made a Shrek onion carriage, a race car, and Dragon from Shrek. I was really impressed with how she just knew what to do when I handed her the hammer! It was a great time.

Just for fun, I wanted to add this picture that Hailey drew today. She told me that she drew "bananas". A "mean one" and a "baby one".

Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake!

So I know it's not really a "craft", but my kid loves baking with me. Last night, we tried a new pumpkin recipe. In this house, we love just about pumpkin anything. We made Paula Deen's Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake. It's said to be so good, that it will replace pumpkin pie. It IS really good. VERY rich. But I think this is in addition to pumpkin pie (maybe not on the same day) but definitely not a replacement. Here's the recipe- http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/pumpkin-gooey-butter-cakes-recipe/index.html

Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees

Tonight we made these ice cream cone Christmas trees. These were our ingredients.
And Hailey decorating her's.

All done
Time to eat!

She really did like it, but she could only handle a few bites. I'm sure it was super sweet. (I didn't taste it.) This morning we also finished our ornaments. She had a blast painting it, and maybe went a little overboard with the glue for her glitter. I tried to spread it out, and it helped some. She was happy with it, regardless.
These two were a lot of fun. The Christmas tree takes hardly any ingredients or time, but you could totally jazz it up with fancier candy and sprinkles.

Salt Dough Ornaments

Tonight we made salt dough ornaments. Hailey was super excited. In honor of (finally!) getting our keys to our house, I used an idea I found on Pinterest. Hailey made a hand print ornament. (I really like hand print crafts).

When I went to put Hailey's on the cookie sheet, she decided to make her own key ornament.

Here they are, fresh out of the oven. We will be painting them tomorrow.

Check back tomorrow for our finished products!
